Wenlock Edge is an 18-mile limestone escarpment in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretching between Ironbridge and Craven Arms.
It boasts panoramic views, remains of ancient quarries and limekilns, fossils, wildlife and rare flowers. In addition it has interesting features including Flounder's Folly, Wilderhope Manor and Shipton Hall, as well as the Shropshire Way and the Jack Mytton Way.
Wenlock Edge is famed for its literary connections with A E Housman, author of A Shropshire Lad, and the novelist Mary Webb, whose books include Precious Bane and Gone to Earth.
