This gallery of pictures is devoted to the Wrekin, an iconic Shropshire hill that is one of the county's best-known landmarks. At 1,335 ft tall it dominates the landscape around Telford and offers spectacular views in all directions.
It has been suggested that the Wrekin may have been the inspiration for J R R Tolkien's Middle Earth in The Lord of the Rings, although this is subject to some debate. Tolkien lived in the West Midlands and visited Shropshire frequently.
The Wrekin lies within the Shropshire Hills Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty.
