This gallery of pictures features Mortimer Forest, which straddles the Shropshire and Herefordshire border near the market town of Ludlow.
It is an ancient hunting forest that takes its name from the Mortimer family, who were Marcher lords.
There are many marked trails, footpaths, bridleways and tracks, and the long-distance footpath the Mortimer Trail passes through the area.
Mortimer Forest is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission.
