Aston on Clun, in south Shropshire, is one of the few villages in the UK that still celebrates Arbor Day. On the last Sunday in May a black poplar tree is freshly dressed with flags which then remain on the tree throughout the year.
The tradition of the Arbor Tree is steeped in mystery, dating back to Celtic times.
Today, the Arbor Day festival includes a variety of events and attracts visitors from around the world.
