A misty sunrise with the Wrekin, seen from Wenlock Edge.

It looks like a watercolour painting, but this is Apedale at sunrise. Waves of mist roll across the Shropshire landscape, with the Wrekin seen in the distance. I was standing on Wenlock Edge for this shot, not far from the village of Rushbury. My alarm had gone off at 3am and as I headed out via Buildwas there was barely a hint of mist until I dropped down into Longville.

Even then there were only a few wisps and I began to think my early start was all for nothing. However, I parked up and after a 20-minute walk I was confronted with this ethereal view. My trousers were soaked with dew from the long grass, but the stunning light and the glorious birdsong made it all worthwhile.
