Bluebells on the ramparts of Burrow Hill, near Craven Arms, Shropshire.
A walk into history - bluebells line a sunlit path along the ramparts of the Iron Age hill fort on Burrow Hill, near the village of Hopesay. Burrow Camp incorporates the remains of an earlier fort and has spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. While I was there I could hear red kites calling overhead, and looked up to see a group of about 30 of them soaring and wheeling through the early-morning sky. As is so often the case, I didn't see another soul until I was back in the car and heading for home.
