Winter sunrise on the Stiperstones, Shropshire.
This is sunrise over the Long Mynd, seen from the Stiperstones. The road from The Bog to the car park was covered in ice which made driving rather interesting, to say the least.
Unsurprisingly, mine was the only vehicle in sight when I parked up, and as I opened the car door I was gripped by a bone-chilling cold with the temperature down to minus eight degrees. I put on several warm layers and then made my way up the ridge, looking for some foreground interest to go in my shot.
I found a pile of snow-covered rocks not far from Saddle Rock and settled down to watch the sun come up, with the biting cold silence punctuated by the occasional call of a grouse. After a few hours the snow started to melt so it was time to pack up and head for home.
