A step back into history along Grope Lane
This is the view looking down Grope Lane, set in the heart of medieval Shrewsbury.
This historic passageway is so narrow that the buildings almost seem to be touching.
Halfway down is the site of an old chapel - now long gone - that may have stood over what was known as a plague pit.
This was a mass grave for victims of the Black Death, which killed half the population of England in the 14th century.
I couldn’t resist taking this shot while walking around town looking for pictures for our 2025 Shrewsbury Calendar - spot the bird feeder!
