Spectacular display over the Stiperstones
What a night - this is the Northern Lights shining above Manstone Rock on the Stiperstones.

A dazzling display had been widely forecast and I certainly wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to get some pictures.
However, deciding where to go was tricky as I wanted to get something recognisably ‘Shropshire’ in the foreground.
After much thought I chose the Stiperstones - and I’m very glad I did!
This shot was taken at 11.35pm and I eventually made my way back down the hill at 2am.
When I got home I couldn’t possibly go to sleep before I had downloaded my files to see what I had captured.
This image turned out to be my favourite and I am very happy to report that it was used in the national press.
Below is another of my pictures from what was a night to remember for sky watchers all around the UK and beyond.
It was taken looking south-west and not towards the north, which is what I had been expecting.
If you look closely you can see the trig point on the top of Manstone Rock, which is the second highest peak in Shropshire.
