In the footsteps of the past on Adstone Hill
How inviting is this - a drovers' road on Adstone Hill, not far from the Long Mynd.

It is one of the many green walkways dating back to medieval times or even earlier that still wind their way across hilltops and through valleys.
Men travelled along them as they drove their livestock on foot from one place to another, heading to fairs and markets, or moving between summer and winter pastures.
On this particular day my morning had started at dawn with waves of mist billowing across the landscape.
An hour or so later, however, and it was all bright sunshine and birdsong instead.
