Power and glory of two Shropshire castles
What a glorious sight - two magnificent Shropshire castles featured in one picture!

This was vintage steam locomotive Clun Castle as it pulled the Welsh Marches Express past Stokesay Castle.
I could hear its whistle before it reached Craven Arms, and the longer I waited the faster my heart seemed to beat in anticipation.
The clouds were building up and I began to worry that shadows would spoil the picture, but thankfully it all worked out.
There was a big plume of smoke as GWR 7029 Clun Castle headed towards Stokesay and in the end I couldn't have asked for better conditions.
I have to confess that I am not a big steam engine enthusiast, but no one can fail to appreciate these wonderful machines.
