Sunset view from the cave of Caractacus
The last rays of sunset light up the interior of Caractacus’s Cave on Caer Caradoc at Church Stretton.

This is the view looking across the Long Mynd towards the Stiperstones on the horizon.
It's a cramped spot and I ended up banging my head on the ceiling a couple of times!
An incoming shower meant that I had to keep wiping my camera lens to clear it of a coating of raindrops that threatened to spoil the picture.
Earlier in the day I took this shot from the summit of Caradoc, looking towards Church Stretton.
Ragleth towers above the town on the left, while the sunlit slopes of the Long Mynd can be seen reaching across the horizon to the right.
I followed up that picture with this view of sheep shooting suspicious looks at me from the ramparts of the Iron Age hill fort.
After a while I realised what was going on - I was standing on a footpath and blocking their way!
I did eventually move, but not before I got my shot of the Lawley with the Wrekin looking like a distant shadow on the horizon.
As a landscape photographer, late spring is my favourite time of year to be on Caradoc.
This is when the sun sets furthest north, so the angle of the light really helps to pick out features in the landscape.
I was up there for several hours that day and had to do battle with an unrelenting wind, but I’m not complaining - who else would like an ’office’ like this?
